Our bio-based 1,3 Propanediol (biobased-PDO) is produced from plant-sourced glycerin through microbial transformation, serving as an eco-friendly alternative to petrochemical products like 1,4-butanediol in polyurethane production. It is used as a urethane chain extender and building block for polyester polyols, resulting in sustainable polyurethanes with improved low temperature flexibility, higher melting points (Tm), lower water absorption, and better processing. Gantrade’s 100% biobased PDO is a low toxicity, easily processed liquid difunctional diol with over 99.9% purity. It can replace 1,4-butanediol in polyurethanes without extensive re-formulation.
