Gantrade & Daicel recognized their 10-year anniversary of collaboration
In 2014, Gantrade Corporation and Daicel Corporation embarked on a unique
business partnership to foster innovation, accelerate commercialization activities, and enhance efficiencies in the supply of caprolactone monomers and derivatives. This partnership has leveraged our combined strengths in coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers (CASE), and polyurethanes.
Polycaprolactone polyols, a key focus of our collaboration, represent a special class of aliphatic polyester polyols used in high-performance polyurethane elastomers. These polyurethanes are known for their toughness, durability, and excellent mechanical properties over a wide temperature range while exhibiting good hydrolytic stability and excellent abrasion, solvent, and thermal resistance.
Over the past decade, Gantrade and Daicel have worked together to transform the customer experience, delivering a highly personalized approach across multiple disciplines and support groups within our respective companies. In May 2024, Daicel opened a state-of-the-art Technical Solutions Innovation Center in Farmington Hills, MI, to further support the caprolactone and derivatives business. One notable innovation from our partnership is the introduction of miscible blends of PTMEG polyols with polycaprolactone polyols, that fill a performance gap in polyurethane systems. These blends offer a wider temperature performance range, enhanced flex-bending lifetimes, increased tensile properties, and a lower tendency to 'cold harden' through soft segment crystallization.
